More flexibility and cost-efficiency with the Lean-Lift pallet store from Hänel
Mega
MEGA, Gossau/Switzerland
Mr. Gröpl, responsible for technology, production and logistics

Question: Herr Gröpl, you are responsible for all the logistics and the pallet store. What prompted you to introduce a new storage system?

Herr Gröpl: Here at MEGA we manufacture high-quality cast metal products that undergo galvanization processing. Our production halls were bursting at the seams, so we decided to invest in a new building.

We placed the galvanization unit on the ground floor of the new building and the grinding shop on the 2nd floor. The 1st floor is used as an in-process storeroom for product dispatch.
The parts destined for the grinding shop are put into temporary storage in the Lean-Lift pallet store by the galvanizing shop. Since the Lean-Lift is also used as a transport lift for pallets between the 3 stories, parts can be transported directly from the galvanization shop to the grinding shop or be retrieved from the galvanization shop. This improves the work situation considerably and makes substantial savings in work time and storage space.

Benefits that speak for themselves:

Decentralized storage, more flexibility!
Huge reduction in access times!
Maximum use of storage volume due to height-optimization!
Up to 60% more space on the same footprint!
Straight into the lift with the trolley!
Up to 1000 kg load per container!
Optimum tailoring to corporate requirements!
Ideal as pallet transport system spanning multiple stories!
High cost-efficiency and cost reductions!

Question: Why did you opt for the Hänel Lean-Lift?

Herr Gröpl: The following criteria were instrumental in our choosing the Hänel Lean-Lift system:

Reduction of space requirements, improved use of storage capacity.
Professional, competent advice, impressive planning of the system through the 3 stories, and problem-free linking of the 3 departments with each other.
The user-friendly system and simple operation of the lifts.
The outstanding price-performance ratio and excellent delivery time.

Question: What has improved in the work situation as a result of the new Hänel Lean-Lift pallet store?

Herr Gröpl: The new building and linkup of internal departments made it necessary to install a pallet storage system spanning 3 stories. As a result, each department can now be supplied with materials from a central point and finished products are brought to the dispatch department quickly and smoothly.

There is no longer any need for lengthy, inconvenient walks to the service elevator, which saves a tremendous amount of time.

Also, the height-optimization of the pallet store has saved a substantial amount of space and maximized storage volume utilization as compared with the previous situation.

Question: Herr Gröpl, can you tell us in quantitative terms what has changed?

Herr Gröpl: Everything is still very new. But the smooth running and huge time savings are already clearly noticeable.

A particular bonus is the increase in storage capacity and quick access to the required parts.

Question: How do you rate Hänel's performance in terms of consulting, planning and implementation of the work?

Herr Gröpl: The competent advice and the professional approach to problem solving impressed us particularly. The Hänel system consultants kept their promise: strict observance of the delivery deadline, smooth installation and successful integration into our internal logistics concept.

Question: Would you recommend the Hänel Lean-Lift pallet store to others?

Herr Gröpl: Without a doubt!

Experience gained during our day-to-day work confirms that we at MEGA made the right decision in our choice of the Hänel Lean-Lift pallet store.
Herr Gröpl, thank you for taking the time to speak to us, and we wish you and MEGA continued success.
